President’s Council

An active barbershopper for over 50 years,

Roger and Sue Lewis have never been more excited about the future. They are witnessing the emergence of a new generation of barbershop singers who have astonishing promise. And to their minds, it’s no accident.

Anyone who sees these groups perform will understand a sea change is underway.” The Lewises see so much potential for youth education and development that they have been investing in Harmony Foundation at the President’s Council level for over a decade. “Now that I see what’s possible,” Roger says, “I’m even more motivated.”

Make yourself heard.

Members of the President’s Council make a resounding difference at this critical moment in the Society’s history. Annual gifts of $1,000 and more allow for bold, innovative music education programs, such as:

Four on the Road.

This new program will send a full-time professional quartet—trained in music education—into schools and colleges to demonstrate and teach a cappella close harmony singing. For the first time in the history of the Barbershop Harmony Society, we’ll combine the techniques developed and tested in volunteer-driven outreach efforts with proven teaching methods—benefitting music education programs everywhere.

Expanded Youth Harmony Workshops and Harmony Explosion Camps.

In 2007, we reached 2,000 students and 200 music educators through workshops and camps. Our goal: 5,000 students. 500 music educators.

Collegiate Quartets and Youth Choruses.

Given the performances we’re witnessing from today’s emerging Youth Choruses, the future we’ve hoped for is well within reach. We need only invest where we see great promise.

President’s Council Donors
are invited to accelerate our progress toward the future by making individual gifts of $1,000 and higher, or quartet gifts of $4,000 and higher. Simply return this pledge card. Along with knowing that you are making a significant impact on young people and the history of barbershop, you’ll enjoy benefits that include priority seating for special performances and exclusive recognition opportunities.
